For the centenary of Dr. Jean Vermeylen (1922-2009) Galerie Vertige presents an exhibition about this fascinating person. He was a psychologist, psychiatrist and writer who stood at the cradle of social psychiatry in Anderlecht. As a pioneer in Belgium, the Psychiatric Sector (today the non-profit organizations L’Été and L’Équipe) has as its basic objective to quickly provide help to as many people as possible with psychological disorders in their living environment. Psychiatry wants to offer an alternative to the psychiatric hospital, but also wants to introduce prevention strategies for the 100,000 residents to whom it focuses.(…) see press release in attachment.
